A New Educational Program: Hebrew as a Second Language in Arab Schools in Israel

Abstract

A chapter by Ali Watad in the edited volume "The Hebrew Language in the Era of Globalization" (eds. N. Nevo & E. Olshtain, Magnes Press, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, 2008). The chapter presents a new educational program for teaching Hebrew as a second language in Arab schools in Israel. The host volume combines theory and practice and addresses Hebrew as a first, second, and heritage language for learners of different ages and populations, including the Arab sector in Israel.
