Sefer Hameliṣ – Kitāb al-Turjemān – Attributed to Pinḥas Hakohen Ben Yosef Harrabban (fl. 14th cent.)
Abstract
A scholarly edition of Sefer Hameliṣ — Kitāb al-Turjemān — attributed to Pinḥas Hakohen ben Yosef Harrabban (fl. 14th century), edited by Ali Watad, with language editing by Reut Yissachar-Trachtman. It is a bilingual Samaritan-Hebrew / Arabic lexicon regarded as the oldest tradition of bilingual dictionaries among the Samaritans. Each page presents the two columns of the lexicon alongside a Modern Hebrew translation, references to the location of the Hebrew word, and a comparison with the Arabic translation of the Torah in the Samaritan tradition. The introduction describes the manuscripts in detail and their relationship to other Samaritan lexica. Published by the Academy of the Hebrew Language, Jerusalem (2021).
